As a commonly used power equipment in industrial production, the insulation resistance of the motor is an important indicator to measure the safe operation of the motor. The size of the insulation resistance directly affects the working efficiency and service life of the motor. So, how to measure the insulation resistance of the motor?

The main method to measure the insulation resistance of the motor is to use an insulation resistance tester, such as a megohmmeter. When measuring, you first need to disconnect the motor from the power supply to ensure safety. Then, connect the two test pens of the megohmmeter to the two winding terminals of the motor respectively. Next, turn on the megohmmeter and shake the megohmmeter by hand or electronically to stabilize the needle in a certain position. At this time, read the resistance value on the megohmmeter, which is the size of the insulation resistance of the motor.

It is worth noting that when measuring the insulation resistance of the motor, a megohmmeter of appropriate voltage level should be selected. For low-voltage motors, a 500V megohmmeter is generally used; for high-voltage motors, a 1000V or higher megohmmeter should be used. In addition, before measuring, the megohmmeter should be calibrated to ensure accurate measurement.

The purpose of measuring the insulation resistance of the motor is to ensure that the motor will not cause leakage, short circuit and other safety accidents due to low insulation resistance during operation. By regularly measuring the insulation resistance of the motor, the decline of the insulation performance of the motor can be discovered in time, so that measures can be taken to repair or replace it to ensure the safe operation of the motor.

In short, measuring the insulation resistance of the motor is a key step to ensure the safe operation of the motor. By using a suitable insulation resistance tester and measuring it according to the correct operating method, the safe operation of the motor can be effectively guaranteed and the production efficiency can be improved. Users should measure regularly according to actual conditions and pay close attention to the changes in the insulation resistance of the motor to ensure the safe and stable operation of the motor.
